Logos Answers in Ukrainian

We are excited that after months of effort, we were finally able to get our Ukrainian work off the ground. The challenge was finding a reliable partner and preacher who could help with translations and who was interested in spreading the gospel using this online platform as a tool. Thankfully, the Madison, AL congregation was able to help us get the work started and make connections in Ukraine. In December, we had several meetings with Sasha Rodichev, a preacher in Ukraine. He was very excited about the work we are doing, and he felt that we could align with the priorities of the local church and with what they are trying to accomplish.

It is hard to believe, but we are approaching the two-year mark since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since that time, many lives have been uprooted or destroyed. However, as is often the case with tragedies like these, new opportunities open up for the spreading of the gospel. Sasha reported to me that since the war broke out, some people have left God in doubt and skepticism, however, many more people have opened their hearts to learning more about God and His Salvation. As an example, he mentioned how while holding up in bomb shelters, since there is not much else to do, many opportunities for evangelism arise that would not otherwise. There are approximately 41 million Ukrainian speakers in the world today. As of July 2023, nearly 6 million Ukrainians have fled the country. Sasha believes there is tremendous opportunity to use the internet to reach Ukrainian speakers with the truth of the gospel throughout the world.

Family Ministry

In December, I completed a FHU graduate course in Family Ministry. Honestly, I didn’t have special expectations for the course. It was just the best option I could see to fulfill my Ministry requirement for my MDiv program. However, the course had a profound impact on me, our family, and our work. It challenged us to think about the tremendous responsibility we have to raise faithful children, first and foremost, from within the home. Sometimes, we can get so caught up in mission work, church events, programs, and youth activities, that we forget to make in-home discipleship a priority.

Several positive outcomes will result from the Family Ministry course. First, because of all the great research I read, I was heavily impacted by how in-home discipleship and integrated church activities are the greatest contributors to faithfulness among children. This has caused our family to be more aware of the balance of our activities. For 2024, we plan to make daily family devotions and regular fellowship with other families a higher priority. Second, in conjunction with my major assignment for the course, I developed a proposal for a Family Ministry program at Woodstock, which the elders are currently considering. The third outcome is that I’m working on a new aspect of our ministry that is designed to encourage believers all over the world to make in-home discipleship a greater priority. Our website is FamilyDevoProject.com. As part of this work, we will be sharing inspiration and resources to families all over the world, from our family’s own experience and from best practices. For example, we are planning to develop a weekly Luke-Acts devotional newsletter for families to put into practice. If you are interested in learning more, please go to the website and sign up!

Goals for 2024

This past year has been filled with blessings for our family and our mission work. We would like to thank all our supporters for your prayers and contributions. Without your support, we would not be able to do the work we are doing. Your love means everything to us!

With that in mind, we have some great goals set for 2024 we want to fill you in on…

  1. Publish more regular lessons via our Relentlessly Knocking podcast.

  2. Redesign our logosanswers.org website to allow for easier grouping by topic.

  3. Translate our Logos Answers platform into at least four new languages.

  4. Develop more lessons and work on growing our viewership more deeply in the languages we already have.

  5. Write an evangelism ebook to be translated in each language.

Please be praying for these goals on our behalf.

Love,

-The Ihle Crew
