Tagalog and the Philippines

This month marked a key milestone for us in the development of our mission efforts. We were able to launch our first fully non-English website and social media pages. We now have a website (logosanswers.org/tl), a YouTube page (youtube.com@logosanswertl), and a Facebook page (facebook.com/logosanswerstl) all fully translated in Tagalog and made culturally relevant for the Filipino people.

Tagalog is the official language of the Philippines. Approximately 35 million people speak it as their native language. Official statistics have the number of social media users in the Philippines at around 82%, which means that we have the potential of reaching over 29 million additional people with answers to their Bible questions.

In the Philippines, approximately 98% of the population is either Roman Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, or practices some other form of mystic religion mixed with Christianity. So, there is much that can be gained from teaching the Truth to these people in their own native language. We have already received much positive feedback regarding the content from the churches there. They are anxious to share it with others!

Asian Cristian University Digital Evangelism Seminar

The church is fairly strong in the Philippines relative to many other countries. There are several schools of preaching located there. One of these accredited schools is Asian Christian University. One of my missions deacon friends, Derek Brown, was recently invited there to speak to the preachers. They were hosting a Digital Evangelism Seminar for the students. Derek invited me to share some insights on digital evangelism as part of his presentation. He also volunteered to share clips from our freshly launched Tagalog video.

Derek said the presentation went very well. I could tell from viewing our online statistics the next day, that many of the preachers viewed and shared the content with others!

Mission Trip to Eastpoint, FL (written by Scottie)

The Woodstock Youth Group was in Eastpoint, Florida from February 18 – 22 to help the church and community. We have been active with the church at Eastpoint for several years. Mike and Jenny Crawford work for the church in Eastpoint, and we felt welcomed to be helping hands. They constantly work helping the community by reaching out to the local youth, making meals, organizing food and clothing drives, and sharing God’s word. This community is in need of outside help. They are very poor, and drug use is common.

We spent two days helping Mike, Jenny and the Eastpoint church of Christ. The young men of the youth group led Sunday morning service. After service, we were able to help with a big food drive. The Woodstock church had been collecting food to help the community at Eastpoint. We gave bags of food to the people who came. This was also an opportunity to pray with those that were willing. On Monday we worked hard as a team to help with sorting donated clothing, yard work, pressure washing, and painting.

The Youth Group also had time to strengthen our relationships together. We had regular devotionals, prayers, and we celebrated a baptism together. We all had so much fun with the community and spending time together as a Youth Group. We learned that with God’s help, we can impact a community by filling some of their needs and by uplifting Mike and Jenny who really appreciated the help.

Love,
